What goes in a cover letter

Typically, cover letters have three parts to them. The first part is an opening paragraph introducing yourself and expressing interest in the position you are applying for.

The second paragraph is typically known as the body of the letter and is normally a bit longer than the other two paragraphs. (A good rule of thumb is to try to make each paragraph about the same size.)

The closing paragraph is typically a, "thank you for reading this letter and viewing my resume" and also an advisory that you will be contacting them in the near future to follow up.
